Description:

Commander, the only geysers are on the hills, but most of the scrap
is in the canyon. A silo will be necessary. I tested all the passes
up the hills with a variety of vehicles including BVHRAZs (‘Bombers’
but more like light tanks), BVRAZs (Scouts) and BVRCKTs (Rocket
tanks). All hills passed the test. BZFRAC made by Derek Sorensen
(bz@bumblbee.demon.co.uk) made this map much easier and faster to
make and ensured that it was balanced. I first made a bitmap 192 *
192 pixels and drew the map in black on light grey in the lower
left corner. I then copied, rotated, and flipped that and pasted it
in the upper right corner. At the time I didn’t know that BZFRAC
could ‘reflect’ the map, so I copied what I had four times rotating
it to make a 384 * 384 bitmap. I used BZFRAC to turn the bmp into
an hgt, copied the trn from an earlier map (3 passes), and used
maketrn to make an mat. I thought I would have to make each ramp
individually with bzone, but while reading the BZFRAC readme I
discovered the reflect menu, so I used that. The result is a
symmetrical map in a fairly short time. The map was originally
multst70, but I used a homemade visual basic text editor to change
the bzn file. It works.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
Before you begin exit Battlezone if it is running.
1) All the files in the zip file need to be unzipped into your
BattleZone\addon directory (folder).
2) Do not modify any of the files in any way! The map will lose
multiplayer compatability.
3) Run amapfor8.bat. This will add the line to your netmis.txt
Next time you play multiplayer, you should see "DHR’s Map for 8"
as one of the available strategy maps. If you have problems
installing the map, make sure you have the following files in
your Battlezone\addon directory (folder): amapfor8.bzn
amapfor8.trn amapfor8.mat amapfor8.lgt amapfor8.hgt amapfor8.bmp
amapfor8.txt amapfor8.des amapfor8.mad If you have further
